Class of 1973
Cathan attended Covert Public Schools from first through twelfth grade and graduated with honors in 1973. He attended the University Washington, Seattle Washington, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Cell Biology in 1980. He was admitted into the University of Michigan Dental School in 1981.
After graduating in 1985, Carthan and family moved to the Kalamazoo area to begin a private dental practice. He has established and successfully operated a private dental office for the past twelve years. He is affiliated with the National Dental Society, Michigan Dental Society, Kalamazoo Valley Dental Society, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Kalamazoo Kiwanis Association.
Carthan has been characterized as a strong but gentle man. He is married to the former Gail Hawkins and they are the proud parents of two children Carlos and Kbara. His parents are Elder L.C. and Mrs. Vergie Berxy, 34th Street, Covert.
