CHARLES EDWARD PETERSON SR.

Charles, a graduate of Covert Public High School's class of 1969, was born to Rosielee & Willie Edward Lee Moses Malichi Peterson, the fourth of seven sons and a daughter. The Peterson Family moved to Covert in 1958, where Charles was one of six children to graduate from Covert Public Schools. A family man, he raised three children from a first marriage and is presently raising a grandchild.

Charles harbored a virtually unknown talent, which was writing. Not just a writer but a writer of "Poetry". Once discovered, he became a motivational speaker and was called upon to share his talent in the community which prompted him to be called "The Poet". Reciting his poetry at high schools, colleges, churches, correctional facilities, Christian youth camps, art fairs. Through his poetry he hopes to "open the eyes of the children of men before they are harvested by minds of destruction".

Charles fulfilled another dream, to become a published writer. He is now the "author" of three books of poetry, The Poet Chasing After a Dream, "3:16", Societies Role and a fourth book in the works.

Charles has received many Awards, Articles, Letters for his poetry, The Man of Honor Award of 2002, and Editor's Choice Award 1995, 1993 these wore national awards. Given recognition from FOX 17 "Impromptu's", The Herald Palladium and The Muskegon Journal where he became a featured writer. He is also Exec. Director of Poetry Plus Inc.

Charles a man of The "Lord" which you can tell by reading or listening to his poetry is a member of Gospel Tabernacle Baptist Church. Chairman of the Deacon Board and President of Gospel Male Chorus. His church family voted him Parent of the Year in 1988. Charles thinks of his poetry as "a blessing a gift that should be shared. Behold, "Coverts resident Poet", Charles E. Peterson Sr. (A.K.A. "The Poet").
