Class of 1976

Harold was a 1976 graduate of Covert Public Schools. He came to Covert, MI from Chicago, IL at a young age. He is one of ten children born to Clarence and Earlene Baber.

After graduation, Harold served his country in the United States Army as Corporal during the Vietnam War. During his enlistment he received medals for sharpshooting, marksmanship, and good conduct.

Harold enjoyed farming his blueberries, deer hunting, and family gatherings. In 1991 he married Carol Williams. His children are Lashonda, Harold Jr., Sameka, Dartanya, and Darien.

After an honorable discharge from the army in 1979, Harold returned to Covert, MI and was employed at Covert Public Schools. He served there as a dedicated employee for 25 years. He held positions in the transportation, custodial, and student services departments. While in the student services department, Harold maintained a stern look. He was able to keep order even in the most challenging situations with the student body. Although stern, Harold was sincere and sensitive to the needs of the students. His genuine and gracious support while employed at Covert Public Schools was honorable and landed him a place in the Hall of Fame.

Harold Baber Sr. passed on from this life in September 2006 and is sorely missed by all who love him.
