Nancy Dings was a 1956 graduate of Covert High School and a Western Michigan University graduate where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. She taught for 30 years and retired from the Coloma Community Schools after 30 years of service. Nancy was awarded the "Golden Nugget Award" in 1995, was the Past President of the Covert Alumni Committee and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Nancy has been married to Glenn Dings for 48 years and they have two sons Bruce and Bryan.
Nancy has served the community in an array of measures and capability including the Lions Local Involvement. She was an active member of the Covert Lions Club Local Involvement as past President and Member of the Board of Directors. At the Lions District Level she served as Zone Chairperson, Vice District Governor is the year 2002/2003 and District Governor in 2003/2004. At the state level Nancy served as the Women's Membership & Participation Trustee for the Michigan Service Foundation, District chairperson, Membership and Welcome Home for the Visually Impaired Membership Committee. At the Lions International Level she served as chairperson for the Lions Clubs International Foundation. Nancy received numerous Lions Awards which includes the 100% Michigan
Governor Award, International President's Award, Melvin Jones Fellow Award, Ken Lautzenheiser Humanitarian Award, MI Service Foundation John S. Noel Award and the Five District Editor Award. On June 30, 2004, she received a Certificate of Appreciation for a meaningful contribution to "The Leader Dog Training Program", which trains leader dogs for the blind. Nancy Dings was active in various other community involvements in which she served as a volunteer for North Berrien Senior Center, Watervliet Community Hospital Rehab Center and as the hospital Auxiliary Corresponding Secretary and the Plymouth Congregation Church Deaconess.
Nancy has served the Covert Community and the Lions Club with effectiveness and dedication that goes beyond perceived limits with the leadership needed to make the vision a reality.
