WILBUR MARKSTROM

Wilbur "Bill" Markstrom, grew up on a small farm in Covert, Michigan and graduated Valedictorian from Covert High School in 1949. He was awarded a University of Michigan Regents Alumni Scholarship and graduated from the school of Business Administration in 1953.

From 1953 through 1956, Bill served in the United States Navy as a commissioned officer, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. He remained in the U.S. Naval Reserve until 1967, when he retired as a full Lieutenant. Tn 1957, Bill returned to the University of Micthigan and graduated from the School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree in 1959. Following graduation he joined the Cleveland based international law firm of Squire, Sanders And Dempsey (one of the country largest law firms) and became a General Partner in 1969. His primary practice focus was in public finance and representing of state and local governments. Bill retired from active practice in 1991. Bill was an active member of the American, Ohio and Greater Cleveland Bar Associations and the National Association of Bond La' He has also been listed in "Who in America". Since moving to Cleveland in 1959, Bill has been involved in numerous community activities.

Tn 1994, Bill was honored to be an International Service Executive Corps volunteer assisting the city of Riga, Lalvia during its transition from a Soviet Republic to an independent country.
