Following graduation, Cade joined the U.S. Army and served from 1968 to 1970. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal, Purple Heart, and the Bronze Star for Valor.

Cade continued his education at the Radiological Technology Medical School, at Lake Michigan College of Benton Harbor, and the University of Health Science at Chicago Medical School.

Since February 1984, Cade has been the Radiology Administrator at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Prior to this assignment, he held the same position at Lykes Memorial Hospital, of Brooksville, Florida, and was Neuro-Vascular Coordinator, at what is now Lakeland Medical Center, in St. Joseph, Michigan. Cades present position encompasses all parameters of a modem diagnostic center, performing approximately 70,000 exams every year, with a staff of approximately 50, which requires extension management abilities. Cade has authored several publications in the areas of management and health care.

He has received numerous awards and recognition for his work with government agencies. Cade's service to the community includes being an advisory member of the Hilisborough Community College Science program. He was also an examiner and consultant for the Pinellas County Schools.

Cade is the son of James and Marquerite Davis of 34th Avenue, Covert, Michigan.
